ORANGE COUNTY - The Orange County Coastkeeper environmental organization will soon begin the task of re-examining pumpout stations in Orange County harbors, to ensure that facilities found to be dirty or inoperable during the group's 2002 survey are now useable and in compliance with all regulations. Starting in 2008, Orange County Coastkeeper staff intends to visit pumpout stations in Orange County by boat and check that the facilities are operational, sufficiently distributed, accessible, visible, well-maintained and pose no hazards to the public and surrounding environment. CHANNEL ISLANDS HARBOR - The gateway property to Channel Islands Harbor, Fisherman's Wharf, is planned to undergo a complete renovation - from the ground up. Initial design plans were recently revealed during a presentation to the Oxnard Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and the Economic Development Corporation of Oxnard by developer Ed Czuker, as reported by the Ventura County Star newspaper. In June, Ventura County granted a five-year lease (with an option to extend up to 65 years) to the Los Angeles-based developer for the revitalization of the Fisherman's Wharf parcel at Channel Islands Harbor. MARINA DEL REY - A new luxury waterfront apartment and marina development is scheduled to open in early 2008, offering tenants boat slips and access to Fairwind Yacht Club. Esprit, which will be located at 1390 Marquesas Way, will include 437 apartment homes and 227 boat slips, said Douglas Ring, principal of the Ring Group, which owns Esprit. "Esprit's one-of-a-kind design will take waterside living to a new level," Ring said. Marina Park Steering Committee Plans Project's Next Steps

NEWPORT BEACH - Members of the Marina Park Steering Committee met Dec. 5 to discuss the next steps for the Newport Marina Park project, after the city council approved the project's master plan at its Nov. 13 meeting. The city's Newport Marina Park project, also called the "Window on the Bay," is being planned for property on the bay side of Newport Peninsula between 15th and 18th streets that now includes 57 mobile homes. It will open more than 930 linear feet of waterfront area to public view from West Balboa Boulevard, now obscured. FULL STORY...
